On Saturday, February 20, 2010 the Oxon Hill High Wrestling Team engaged in a Pyrrhic match at the County Tournament. Oxon Hill, among other schools in the county, faced off at Charles Flowers High School for the battle. Five wrestlers, Eric Lynch, Jonathan Lynch, DeQuan Roland, Davanta Ellis, and Christopher Prioleau represented Oxon Hill wholly, and fought hard in each of their matches. One by one the wrestlers competed and gave it all they had.

As a team, Oxon Hill High placed 13th in the county tournament. Individually, Oxon Hill’s Jonathan Lynch placed 6th and Eric Lynch placed 2nd and will be moving on the Regionals. Christopher Prioleau earned 2 wins and 2 losses. Unfortunately, Davanta Ellis suffered an injury to his rotator cuff and was unable to compete in his last match. Coach and former Oxon Hill High wrestler, Nigel Cross, states, “I’m proud of those who finished out the season. They gave it their all and that’s all I can ask for. Next year I expect for Oxon Hill’s team to improve and I hope we are a part of the top 5 in the County Tournament.” On February 26, 2010 Eric Lynch will be moving on to Regionals at Chopticon High School and hopes to move on to the State competition after that.
