Oxon Hill High School’s Globe Club has been participating in an academic marathon called the Maryland Envirothon for three years now and has won every single year.

Sponsors Mr. Witko and Ms. King have been preparing the team for several months now and are determined for another win.

What is the purpose of Globe Club you may ask?

Globe Club is a great opportunity for teenagers to learn the aspects of the environment.

As some individuals may already know, our environment is in danger.  Members of the Globe Club begin to their purpose by acknowledging the major complications of the world and how to save it by studying different topics about Earth.

The envirothon is divided into 5 elements: wildlife, forestry, soils. aquatics, and a fifth element (which changes every year). Each student that is placed into each element is responsible for knowing the basics for that particular issue.

Globe Club has been growing every year and it is necessary for students to understand the effort of learning about the environment. Knowing the issues and how to help is the first step to making a difference. That is Globe Club’s purpose and one worthy of uniting over.
