You will see her teaching in room 322. A math teacher to all and a friend to some students, Mrs. Menecio wants to find ways to help students in math. She constantly thinks of new ways to share her knowledge with her classes.

“All individuals are unique; I, as a teacher, would like to cater to those differences,” Mrs. Menecio said, explaining the reason for her “innovative” teaching style. She uses catchy and unique names to replace the different math concepts that she teaches, like “rah-rah-kick“, “baloony“, or the “Jackie Chan“.

“Effective teachers should be very creative and have a unique way of teaching students. I create my own mathematical processes and terms. Modeling learning processes will help students to digest the lesson,” she explains.

Having children of her own, she knows how students need special ways to help them learn. Living in the same neighborhood with most of her students also gives her a familiarity of their behavior. She said, “This helps me to focus on their personal lives and understand more of their background.”

From her experiences in teaching here in the United States or in the Philippines, she believes in a positive attitude toward her students. Therefore, she wants to make an impact on the lives of her students. She also adds, “Teaching from different countries has made me strong in dealing with diverse students. The positive attitude toward students help students them realize that they are valued and given importance.”
